Just thought I'd introduce myself and
say “hello.”
My name is Adam Engel, author of
TOPIARY: A NOVEL, and I HOPE MY CORPSE GIVES YOU THE PLAGUE: MY LIFE
IN THE BUSH ERA OF GHOSTS.
I live in this really cool
artist/musician/writer/activist community called Surreal Estate. I
find the communal living situation and variety of “non-traditional”
people very inspiring.
They're letting me teach
a course there, starting November 8th, called “Writing
Creative,” which I based on the famous “Imaginative
Writing” course the poet Kenneth Koch taught at Columbia for 40
years. I'm following his advice and keeping the course down to a
maximum of ten students, so people have to send submissions if they
want to participate.
I'm really exited. I hope this course
flies. It would be good to carry on Koch, Ashbery, O'Hara and the rest of the New York School's legacy. Check it out:
