My name is Philippa Gray, I'm in my mid-thirties and have a BA with honours in Theatre Studies - screenwriting and story construction were part of my studies. I'm currently working for a major bank, but please don't hold it against me! Although I'm based in Belfast, one strand of my family were Romany Gypsy only a couple of generations back, which probably explains relatives spread out across the globe: my uncle Bill is a Doctor of English Literature in Sweden; another uncle, Richard Gray, was an ambassador for the Irish government before his death a few years ago - he lived for several years in Chicago, Vienna and Spain. I have myself spent time in Sweden and Seville, and taught at an English language school on Crete for two years. My love of travel is shared by my writing partner, so the books will have varied international settings. Alan Shields is the second half of the writing partnership. Alan had been in bookselling for over forty years before accepting both redundancy and an early pension from the Waterstones chain in the UK - he calls it 'parole'. Focusing now on his writing, Alan recently sold two Westerns to Robert Hale of London, the first of which was published back in February under the name 'Bill' Shields. We have been close friends for twenty years now and share similar tastes and interests, plus - quite crucially - writing styles that are perfectly in sync. We are writing romantic comedies under a merging of our two names, as 'Pippa Shields' - 'Lipstick and Lemon Trees' is the first. We're also working on a series of paranormal thrillers - the first title, 'Darkest Night', is also available on Amazon Kindle.
